Books are always news, and some of the most newsworthy ones published in recent times include “Creeping Fascism” by Neil Faulkner, “Fire and Fury” by Michael Wolff”, “Fascism” by Madeleine Albright and “ Children of Blood and Bone” by Tomi Adeyemi, the youthful Nigerian- American phenomenon who has actually been described as the next JK Rowling.
In the news today is the book “Fighting Corruption is Dangerous “ by Nigeria’s former Finance Minister, Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala in which she details her running battles with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) as the most stressful part of her job.
Dr N.O. Iweala was headhunted for the role by former President Olusegun Obasanjo from the World Bank and highly acclaimed for doing a great job under that Presidency. She stayed on to work with President GE Jonathan and again recorded several achievements. However, she has had to work hard to restore her pristine image in the wake of the administration’s struggles amidst allegations of large scale corruption levied against some of its principal actors.
This book will be worth reading to get Madam Ngozi’s side of the story.
Happy reading – from TFS Corner.
